I Hear With My Eyes

I HEAR WITH MY EYES: A 45 MINUTES, 2 PART PERFORMANCE ART EXPERIMENT

The “picture thinking” performance or exhibit I Hear With My Eyes are made of two parts: (1) without, (2) with sound; hearing at entrance get ear-protectors. Result (1): hearing realizes that absent sound is a detrimental obstacle for anyone’s psychophysical development. Result (2): the hearing must get involved with special needs, and make them believe that they are equally important in any society.

The deaf see things in pictures, which constitutes a different mental process than the one of hearing. Reactions are subjective and essential for research.

To hearing the “abstract story” can either become clear or not. The deaf experience is different. The project’s intertwined artistry with social awareness is  “head-on” call for growth of social awareness and integration through Arts.  The deaf audience’s perception is just as important, hence it must be explained. In the end the hearing and the deaf fill the survey: How the deaf become n active part of creative society, and to what extent? Why does deafness become an obstacle (or not included) in creativity and higher education? Can change happen, and how? The questionnaire is submitted to the research. These ( 10 ) years of the evolving project addresses Balkans and Eastern Europe (galleries, museums, experimental places). Audiences of different ideologies, handicaps, and economics become active participation at round tables and workshops. A process of conflict resolution is started. Attention is placed on kids and youth with and without special needs ages 3 through 18. Psychologists, activists, and social workers must be encouraged to actively participate.  Deaf (plus other special needs), are encouraged to participate through a true understanding of adding photos, video, skits, short stories, and more.
