Dos Worlds

DOS WORLDS is an intimate drama between three characters underlined by insight into the world. The BLIND PIANIST lost his sight and no longer wants to play the piano. BLUE was repeatedly raped, feels beneath herself, and sells roses. Unaware of each other they walk into a ‘room’ with piano. The VOICE is someone who exists in Blue’s consciousness and responds with reckless boldness and ‘hangs’ over Blue. She was its sexual object. This imaginary truth is a consequence of what has happened to Blue. The VOICE is remorseless, it stalks. Their battle of whom dominates is halted with the appearance of the Blind Pianist, Now, they are 3. Blue and the Blind Pianist feel rejected and are longing for what was once unattainable. Although disillusioned and distraught, the Blind Pianist plays atonally and whispers sound born out of pain.  At first, distrusting each other we think that Blue and the Blind Pianist are stuck in the insidious memory of their harrowing pasts because they lost something that they will never regain.  But Blue's awareness that the Blind Pianist is 'there' gives her strength and allowance to feel a desire for tenderness and embrace. It helps her create the climax. Blue confronts the Voice, the Blind Pianist helps her, and the Voice vanishes. Blue and the Blind Pianist touch, he calls her name and she lifts her GAZE.  They “lose” themselves in the moment of trembling tenderness, contemplation, and power of touch. She starts to read to him, and he starts to caress her hair. They reach transcendent unity. Not for long.  The power of the Voice’s haunting pain returns. The rape can’t be forgotten.  The VOICE dictates the story from the beginning. 3 new characters enter. They are dressed the same but look different.

The story repeats, THE WORLD HAS NO ABILITY TO CHANGE.
